[title]

Summer is meant for your inquisitive spirit to go wild! Samurai swords have appeared in movies and cartoons regularly, but if you haven’t seen an actual one, let alone antique ones, and would be interested in seeing some, June will be an exciting month for you as we will be exhibiting authentic antique samurai swords from Japan!

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of “Hang Ngai Hin”, an antique sword specialist store in Hong Kong that specializes in ancient Japanese and overseas weaponry. To celebrate this milestone and to promote the culture of Japanese blades in the city, “Hang Ngai Hin” will be holding for the first time a “Japanese Sword Art & Collection” exhibition at The Muse. Swords and blades that take different forms and represent various eras, from the mid-Heian period (794-1185) up to the Meiji period (1868-1912), will be on display along with a set of rare Samurai’s armor crafted by a famous Japanese figure from the Edo period. All the way from Japan, shop owner of “Touken Hataya”, Hataya sensei, will also make a special appearance and host seminars on both 29 and 30 June, 2019.

About the Speaker
Hataya sensei is a professional Japanese sword polisher who has learned his crafts from famous Japanese swordsmen such as Nakamura Taizaburo. He founded the "Touken Hatatya" in the 1970s and has engaged in the art of sword polishing and Japanese art sword sales ever since. Having earned his title as the chairman of “Zen Nihon Toyama Ryu Iaido Renmei” in 2002, Hataya sensei continues to dedicate his life in promoting swordsmanship to the world.
