When the Clouds Arise – a Solo Exhibition by JC Jessie

11 Mar, 2024 — 27 Mar, 2024

This exhibition draws inspiration from the Tang Dynasty poem “Zhongnan bieye” by Wang Wei, exploring the ever-changing aspects of nature and the mindset of embracing hope.

Through captivating artworks, it creatively visualizes the passage of time using traditional Chinese literati landscape paintings. This fusion of Chinese landscapes and Cantonese opera costumes represents a harmonious blend of Chinese and Western influences.

The exhibition highlights the significance of embroidery in Hong Kong’s cultural heritage and pushes the boundaries of artistic expression. By reimagining embroidery within Chinese landscapes, it offers viewers a fresh perspective and invites them to embrace new possibilities. This immersive experience celebrates the intersection of tradition and modernity, nature and human emotions, and the convergence of Chinese and Western influences.
