Share a Pear
The fast-approaching Mid-Autumn Festival is the most anticipated time of the year for family reunions. Based off of the sentiment that family members scattered around the country get homesick but find comfort in knowing that they are all seeing the same moon when they look up, family prepares huge feasts to welcome relatives home. In Chinese culture, people believe in deriving good luck from using, consuming objects and produce that sound similar to an action of good nature, hence, in addition to moon cakes which represent reuniting, pomelo and pear are also popular foods used as Mid-Autumn Festival feasting ingredients, since they are symbolic of a complete family and always together respectively.
This September, our chefs in Kitchen Savvy have designed two scrumptious dishes using pomelo and pear to symbolize family reunion for Mid-Autumn Festival. Enjoy a beautifully golden Confit Duck Leg with Duck Foie Gras, Caramel Pear, Red Cabbage, Plum Sauce, and let the savoury duck meat, creamy foie gras, and the sweetness of the caramel pear and plum sauce contrast each other. What’s a Mid-Autumn gathering without moon cakes? Create a sweet memory for your family with our version of moon cake featuring Salted Egg Custard with Fresh Pomelo, Braised Pear, Chocolate Mousse, Mango Cake, Rabbit Cookie, and Vanilla Gelato.
Enjoy a sweet family reunion at Kitchen Savvy under the full moon.
